Biography
Christy M.K. Cheung is Associate Professor of Information Systems and e-Business Management and the Director of Research Postgraduate Programme of School of Business at Hong Kong Baptist University. Her research interests include Technology Use and Well-Being, Social Media, Data Analytics and IS Security. She has published more than 150 refereed articles in international journals and conference proceedings, including Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, MIS Quarterly and among others.
Her work has been recognized with research awards such as the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence (2007; 2016), Distinguished Paper Award at the International Conference on e-Commerce, e-Administration, e-Society, e-Education, and e-Technology (2011, 2014, 2015), Best Paper Award at the International Conference on e-Commerce, e-Administration, e-Society, e-Education, and e-Technology (2014) and International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2003). As of April 2019, she has accumulated a total of citation count of 14522 times and acquired an h-index of 51 and i10-index of 93 (per Google Scholar) and a total of citation count of 3894 times and acquired an h-index of 27 (per SCI/SCCI Citations). Five of her articles are listed as “Highly Cited Paper (HCPs)”in Essential Science Indicators (ESI) in 2018.
Christy is the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator of over 25 research grants (including General Research Fund, UGC Additional Funding for Teaching and Learning Related Initiatives, Joint Research Fund from National Natural Science Foundation of China, Faculty Research Grant, and etc.) totally over HK$4 million. Currently, her Research Impact Fund proposal (with a proposed budget over HK$12 million) has been shortlisted for the second-round review.
Her academic leadership roles including being the Editor-in-Chief of Internet Research - an SSCI journal with an impact factor of 3.838 in 2017. She has also served in many different Senior Editor and Associate Editor roles for several IS journals, including Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Information Systems Journal, and others. She is the President of the Association for Information Systems (AIS-Hong Kong Chapter) since 2017. She has served as Conference Chair and Track Chair in leading IS conferences (e.g., ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, and PACIS). She has also been invited to give keynote speech, panel discussion, and invited seminars in Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Taiwan and the United States.
